Heart of a Farmer

How To Describe
How does one put pen to paper and attempt to describe a photo like this? It's one of those...you had to be there moments..... to really enjoy the beauty of this sunset. Lost for words is an understatement. Determined to get the best possible shot with a point and shoot camera, the middle of the field was the best option. Snow drifts well over the top of my winter boots, didn't faze this photographer. With numerous shots taken, the view seemed to reach out and draw my eyes toward it as I attempted the walk home. Minutes later, the sun set and darkness prevailed.

Rainy Day Thank You
It's a rainy Sunday and a great time to blog. Thanksgiving was celebrated a couple of weeks ago in Canada. My family did not get together as one family member was busy, "Feeding the World" as my Grandson said. I wish we could have spent time together that weekend but when you have the gigantic challenge of providing food, a meal in which we give thanks, will have to wait. When the crops are harvested and the combine is back in the shed, then the celebration will begin.
Thank you to every farmer who "feeds the world". No matter which part of agriculture you are involved in, you are important. On this rainy day I hope each one of us can stop for a few moments and give thanks for "Farmers".

Proud Canadian
HAPPY CANADA DAY! I am so blessed to live in the greatest country in the world. There are so many words that describe Canada. For me its the vast open spaces, beauty of the land and the freedom to live one's life. My life consists of faith, family, farming and friends. I love the fact that Canadians are known for saying sorry and eh! We constantly talk about the weather. By the way, a much needed rain is falling as I type. YEAH!!! Hockey and lacrosse, the two national sports, rock! The beaver our nation's animal is truly symbolic of hard working Canadian men and women. The Maple Leaf adorning our countries flag- does any country have a better looking flag? No way! Who else would name their currency a" loonie"? Canadian treats including maple syrup, poutine and beavertails. YUMMY! This unique country should be celebrated everyday. Start today by attending Canada Day celebrations in your area. HAPPY 149th BIRTHDAY CANADA!

Its Here!
Finally there is snow in the air. Sadly, weather forecasters are predicting double digits and a green Christmas. Here's hoping they will be wrong. I'll take this and enjoy every minute of it. The brightness outside beats the dull, gloomy days of the past few weeks. One Christmas songs says, "Its beginning to look at lot like Christmas...". I'm saying, "Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it snow."

Dirt in Your Shoes
There are many great photos with sayings attached on websites from every country in the world. One could post a new shot each day and still find an endless supply the following day. Far too many to chose from, but, once in a while one pops up that truly describes who a person really is. The woman in the picture could be yours truly. Out in the field checking the crops is where I can be found. While driving to work, checks are made on my neighbours crops. It's just one continuous crop tour. Not only are field crops on the look at list- apple orchards, vegetable gardens and flower beds catch the two eyes that should be looking straight ahead and minding the rules of the road. Then the wandering eyes of this country bumpkin will catch the red paint of a Massey-Ferguson or the blue on a new F150. No worries, "Cautious and Slow " are my middle names when driving. There's just too much to observe.
Dirt in the Shoes- Guilty as charged. Born with dirt in the shoes, farm raised and still carrying that little bit around every day. The shoe dirt attaches itself to the insides and outsides of any shoes worn on the two feet I walk around on. Will I ever endeavour to remove the dirt? Not a chance!
